When Time Stands Still

This year has flown by. Weeks just pass with the blink of an eye...until this week! Boy, has it been a long week! I'm so ready for the kids. I'm scared yet excited. We have prepared as much as we possibly can at this point. Now, it is time to dive in head first!

A therapist visits the oldest child each week in the home. I spoke they are telling him tomorrow afternoon that they are going to come live with us. Back in October, I had made a scrap book (my first ever) about Billy and me. I included photos of our parents, my brother's family, our house, church and cat. I titled it "Welcome To Our Jungle." Well, I hope they won't know that is a spin off of GNR's hit song! LOL! The therapist will be going through the book with him and talking about the transition and his feelings about it. She told me that he is a strong little boy and is parentified and that the main thing for us will be to show him that he needs to be a child. The other two, well she will tell them as well but they are just too young to understand. The therapist thinks the the little girl will have the toughest time as she is closely bonded with her great aunt (foster mom). But the great thing is that at that age, they are most resilient.

While we don't want to overwhelm them by introducing them to everyone that wants to meet them right away, we have decided we can't simply keep the grandparents-to-be waiting any longer. So on Saturday night, they are all coming over for one hour to meet the children. We ordered a cookie cake with a monkey on it. Of course it says "Welcome to Our Jungle!"

I feel sorry for my kitty, Stinky. Boy, is he ever going to be one mad cat. He is gentle with kids but he really doesn't care for them!

I've ordered bunk beds for the boys room. They won't be here for another 3 week so their room will be very adult like until then. Once I move out that furniture then I'm having the room repainted and will be using a Safari theme bedding.

The little girl will be in our "nursery" but with a real bedroom suite. I'm going to have bedding made for her in the nursery rhyme fabric that I have already used in there.

I will probably end up making this blog private so that I can put photos up of the children and share a little bit more details. But I've got to figure out how to do that and guess what? I don't have time to fool with it right now!

Thanks for all the well wishes! I REALLY appreciate it more than you can imagine!

P.S. - Sorry for terrible punctuation and grammar but I'm having to type fast and off the top of my head since my time is limited
