My Monday came a day late

My Monday came a day late this week. Today is one of those days that I would have liked to walked around like Jim Carey in the movie "Liar, Liar" just speaking everything that is on my mind. But if I did that, I probably wouldn't have any friends left and family would disown me.

I was already highly agitated or as I like to call "illing" when I went out to a national photo listing website to check status on some of my adoption inquiries. I found that one group of kids that I have been VERY interested were placed on hold and no longer accepting home studies as they had an overwhelming number of responses to date. This did not bode well with me...at all. Of course, I'm glad that so many people are interested in these kiddos but I'm not happy that after all this time, my home study is still not officially approved. The thought of losing an opportunity to be considered as adoptive parents for these kids due to lazy social workers really had my blood boiling.

I called the kids social worker and schmoozed with her for a few minutes. I explained that my local DFCS have been dragging their rear ends on approving my home study. Of course, I put my best foot forward and didn't say "rear end" (although the Jim Carey in me was thinking of another not so nice word)! I just explained the circumstances and she was super sweet and very encouraging. She said that she would allow me more time to get my home study submitted since I had already inquired about the kids. She stated that if she didn't have my home study by next week that she would call to follow up with me. She basically told me that my local DFCS was being lazy so I didn't have to say it after all!

I immediately hung up the phone and called DFCS. Got a voice mail as usual. Left a polite "fake until I make it" message. Called back a couple times later in the day and got the same voice mail. Tuesday came and went without a return call.

Timeline:

October 7th - made first call to DFCS
October 14th - Orientation
October 18th - November 17th - Impact training classes
October 27th - Environmental Inspection
November 24th - 1st Home Study Visit
December 1st - 2nd Home Study Visit

So there! We finished our home study over two months ago now and still no approval. When I emailed our social worker a couple of weeks ago, she admitted they actually lost the home study but then found it a few days later on a co-workers desk!

Did I mention that my husband and I donated our entire Christmas fund to DFCS Secret Santa program? They appreciated it so much that they forgot about us!

Well, it doesn't take a whole lot of this silly business before my my rattler starts shaking and my forked tongue comes out. Warning: I've lost my charm.
