Sour Grapes

Today, I'm filled with an assortment of emotions. I'm mad, tired, disappointed, discouraged yet while still holding onto a little sliver of hope and excitement wondering what the future may hold for me on the adoption arena.

When I think about DFCS not giving me an expected review and approval date for our home study, the more mad I get. Per the state of Georgia, they have over 250 kids available for adoption at any one given time. Here we sit able, willing and ready but no one seems to care...or remember our names.

If I don't have a response by them on Friday morning, then I'm calling the Regional Director that is over several county Directors. Billy said that I'm going to end up making them mad. My response was "well, we aren't getting anywhere being nice." We have laughed about them possibly not approving our home study but that is ok too as they will just need to prepare themselves for all out war!

This is not a popularity contest so I don't care if DFCS likes me or not. This is not about us. This is about all the kids out there that cannot advocate for themselves. This is about kids that have lost everything in life that they have ever known to then become victimized by the state. This is people's lives here.

Ironically, many of the children's profiles state that they need a parent that will "advocate" for them and the child's best interest. ADVOCATE...hmm, I'll show them ADVOCATE!
